The prestigious American magazine Global Finance, in its publication on the Best Banks in Africa, announced Bridge Bank Group CI as the best bank in Côte d'Ivoire for the year 2021.
WHO IS GLOBAL FINANCE?
Global Finance is an international reference in the field of financial news. Through its monthly magazine, it awards the Global Finance prize to companies in the financial sector that stand out for their innovation and successful major changes. Established in New York since 1987, it is published in English in 50,000 copies and distributed in more than 163 countries.
WHO IS ELIGIBLE FOR THIS AWARD?
The Global Finance award takes into account several objective criteria, namely:
- The bank's ability to optimally manage liquidity;
- Access to credits based on the analysis of key sectors of the economy of the country or countries of operation;
- Balance sheet growth and profitability;
- Changes related to the evolution of the sector and internal strategic objectives;
- Growth in the client portfolio;
- Resilience to external shocks and more specifically this year, to the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic;
Applicants for this distinction must also demonstrate:
- A good understanding of the local environment and the needs of their clients;
- Financial strength and operation under optimal security conditions;
- Innovation in products and services offered to customers;
- Competitiveness;
- Good governance and strict compliance with internal and regulatory standards.
The algorithm used refers to the size of the staff, risk management, customer service, range of products and services, execution skills, and intelligent use of technology.
The awarded banks are those that best meet the aforementioned criteria, as well as the requirements of stock analysts, credit rating analysts, and banking consultants and other sector actors.
In a context strongly marked by the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, Bridge Bank Group Côte d'Ivoire "BBG CI" proves its resilience and is particularly honored to receive this Award for the best Bank in Côte d'Ivoire, an accolade that follows its ISO 9001-2015 certification for the entire production chain obtained and maintained since 2018 as well as the "Pépites de l'accueil" award in the banking sector, won three consecutive years since 2018.
The CEO of BBG CI, Mr. Ehouman Kassi, confirms that this recognition rewards the execution of the strategic plan initiated since 2019 aimed at transforming the Bank through the strengthening of its information system, its human capital, its equity, and the acceleration of its digitization in order to lay the foundations for its regional expansion which will materialize through its establishment in 3 new countries by 2025.
This transformation of the Bank is not at the expense of its profitability since its net income has doubled between 2018 and 2020 while its operating coefficient, in continuous improvement, went from 69% in 2018 to less than 48% in 2020.
