Incidents

The rejection of a check due to insufficient funds leads to the recording of information in the Central Cheque File of the BCEAO, which lists individuals subject to the ban.

In the absence of regularization, the law requires the account holder and their representatives to return the check forms in their possession, and the account holder is banned from issuing checks for 5 years. Therefore, we invite you to manage this means of payment made available to you with care.

RECOMMENDATIONS

The check forms we provide to you, upon your request, are a means of payment.

Therefore, we recommend that you:

Check the numbers of the checks upon receipt of these forms,

Keep your check forms in a safe place to prevent theft or loss,

To protect yourself from any harmful consequences in case of theft, loss, fraudulent, or illegal use of these check forms, oppose the payment of such checks as soon as these facts are discovered.

This opposition must be made immediately, in writing indicating one of the aforementioned reasons, regardless of the form of this writing, to the manager of your account, who can then block the payment of the checks in question.

If you fail to follow the recommendations mentioned above, you will be held responsible and, in the event of fraudulent use of your checks, the bank cannot be held responsible for the payment of such checks.
